China Is Committed To Sharing Development Opportunities With The World

Dai said that at present, multiple global crises are intertwined and superimposed. More than half of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development has been implemented, but overall progress has fallen far short of expectations. Developing countries urgently need the support of the United Nations development agencies, including UNDP. China commends UNDP for integrating resources from the public and private sectors to introduce innovative solutions in areas such as blue economy, clean energy and digital finance, enhancing the sustainable financing capacity of developing countries, promoting poverty reduction and promoting equality. China is highly concerned about the shortage of development resources facing UNDP, and calls on traditional donor countries to earnestly honor their commitments under the funding compact and climate finance, and increase their contributions to core resources. It is hoped that UNDP will continue to strengthen partnership building, promote cooperation with international financial institutions, and continue to support South-South cooperation and tripartite cooperation.

Dai said that China adheres to sharing development opportunities with the world and has proposed and implemented global development initiatives, with more than 100 practical cooperation projects proposed in the past two years. At the just-concluded 15th BRICS Summit, China announced that its financial institutions will launch a special fund of US $10 billion to implement the global development initiative. This will strongly support countries in accelerating their efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. China looks forward to working closely with UNDP and other member states under the framework of the Global Development Initiative to jointly address development challenges and leave no country or person behind.
