Chinese Medical Team Provides Free Consultations For The Elderly in Malta

On the evening of the 28th, the Chinese medical team assisting Malta launched the "China Red" health care campaign for the elderly in the city of Malta. It provided health consultation and free clinic services to the local people, especially the elderly, and donated medical supplies such as ointments and safflower oil to the city government.
Doris Abera, the mayor of Malta, stated in an interview that as the largest city in southern Malta, the city has a large population but is far from large public hospitals, making it inconvenient to seek medical treatment. The Chinese medical team has come to carry out activities to care for the elderly and donate drugs, providing great convenience for citizens, especially the elderly.
She said that Malta and China have been cooperating in the medical field for 30 years, and the Mediterranean Traditional Chinese Medicine Center has a high reputation in the local area. She looks forward to expanding medical cooperation between the two sides. In 1994, the Chinese and Maltese governments collaborated to establish the Mediterranean Traditional Chinese Medicine Center, which was dispatched by the Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission to carry out diagnosis and treatment work.
Counselor Peng Yijun, Chief Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Malta, delivered a speech stating that over the past 30 years, the flowers of cooperation in the field of healthcare between China and Malaysia have been blooming continuously. He believes that with the support of the two governments and friends from all walks of life, cooperation in the field of healthcare between China and Malaysia will surely achieve more mutually beneficial and win-win results.
Dong Xiaoyan, the leader of the medical team, told the reporter that this free clinic activity was the fourth of the "China Red" health care activity for the elderly group launched by the medical team. In view of the high incidence rate of health problems of the elderly group, we provided health consultation and free clinic services to help the elderly establish a healthy life philosophy, and relieve and alleviate their pain through traditional Chinese medicine treatment, so as to effectively improve the quality of life of the elderly group.
At the event site, local citizens also watched the "30th Anniversary of China's Assistance to Malta Medical Team Dispatch" photo exhibition and a special documentary titled "Friendship, Dedication, Cooperation, and Exchange".
Since 1993, the Chinese government has dispatched 18 medical teams to assist Malaysia, treating a total of approximately 250000 patients. This free clinic was conducted by the 18th Chinese medical team assisting Malta at the Mediterranean Traditional Chinese Medicine Center.
