According to the statement, the assistance package, which will be paid for through the funding of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) appropriated by Congress, will be aimed at strengthening Ukraine's air defense, artillery ammunition, and other equipment, including additional ammunition for the High mobile rocket launcher System (HIMARS), 105mm artillery shells, and minesweeping equipment.
On September 6, local time, US Secretary of State Blinken and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kureba attended a press conference and said that the United States will provide more than $1 billion in support to Ukraine, of which 665 million will be used for military support and civilian security. Russian presidential press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said the move showed that the United States wanted Ukraine to be fought to the last man.
