The jury found Trump liable for Carol's sexual abuse and defamation, but they did not find Trump liable for the rape, the report said. Trump previously defamed Carroll in an October 2022 post in which he called her allegations a "hoax."
For sexual abuse, the jury awarded Carroll $2 million and $20,000 in punitive damages. Jurors awarded $1 million for defamation for Trump's October post and another $1.7 million and $280,000 in punitive damages for defamation of Carroll. It's the first time a U.S. president has been convicted of sexual assault.
In response, Mr Trump posted that the jury's verdict was a "total disgrace" and said it was "a continuation of the greatest witch hunt of all time". He also said he had no idea who Carol was.
