Description
The centre of he speaker cone is attached to the end of moving back and forth through the mouving coil. This cone is stored on the edge with a sealed suspension or surround song , when the cone moves it pushes and pulls the surrounding air, therefore it causes a pressure wave in the air called sound.
Polypropylene (PP) has become the preferred resin sheet material for the thermal speaker cones. Polypropylene cones are popular in home cinema and home sound, as PP cones cannot absorb moisture and have minor distortions.
Polypropylene cones are a very popular choice of material due to their stiffness, low manufacturing cost and resistance to water absorption. As with paper cones, polypropylene uses a variety of fillers and additives, most commonly glass, carbon black, mica and talc.
A typical plastic cone is produced by thermoforming, in which case the cone is heated until it can be molded and then pressed into shape. Some manufacturers have opted for injection molding, which gives the cone greater rigidity, but the process requires investment in expensive molds.
Plastic diaphragm materials can offer impressive performance, such as high damping, but the sound they produce is often described as lifeless or bland compared to composite materials.
