After the pulp is discharged, the remaining solids in the pressed cone are sent to a heated cone press, which evaporates the remaining water in the pulp and creates the cone shape. An overly compressed cone can lead to more pronounced breakage or distortion at high sound pressures. On the other hand, non-compressed cones are treated with chemicals and are usually stiffer and more sensitive than compressed cones.
